Covering Up The Bush-Saudi Connection

posted Wednesday, 30 July 2003

The Bush administration made every effort to make us believe there was an Iraq-alQaeda connection even though it knew all along that no such link existed. It just wanted us to believe there was such a link so we'd accept the idea of a war of aggression against Iraq.  As for the possibility of an Iraq-Saudi Arabia connection the Bushies are making every effort to keep that hidden from view.  It may not exist, but it should be looked into.  What seems to be preventing that is the Bush-Saudi-Carlyle connection.  Geov Parrish writing for Working For Change examines this whole matter.  --  Bryce

Why is George W. Bush handling Saudi Arabia so gently?

The recently released congressional investigation of the federal government's failure to detect or prevent 9/11 is not, we are told, even close to the final word on the subject. Even the classified version of the 800-page report contains numerous gaps, some of which will be filled by the greater access to existing intelligence and future documents or interrogations that will be available to former New Jersey Gov. Thomas Kean's newer, independent commission.

But some of those gaps are intentional, sections of the report redacted by the White House or CIA due to sensitive matters of intelligence, foreign policy, or national security. And of those passages, none is more glaring or important than the 28-page section that deals with support the 9/11 hijackers received from foreign governments -- mostly, according to inside sources, from officials in the government of Saudi Arabia.

While Kean's commission reports that cooperation with the Bush Administration has so far been good, congressional investigators were repeatedly stonewalled in their efforts to obtain information. The composition of Kean's Bush- appointed task force was heavily politicized from the outset -- when the post that went to Kean was originally awarded to former Secretary of State and well-connected war criminal Henry Kissinger. Bush has been remarkably willing to politicize 9/11 -- that's why we now own Iraq -- and he's also been spinning the question of responsibility for 9/11 since the day of the attacks. That spinning has been consistently away from Saudi Arabia. While U.S. support of the repressive Saudi royals has always been a delicate issue, it is more so for Dubya than for any other administration in history. Two words suggest why: "9/11" and "Carlyle."

The Carlyle Group, for those not up on your Internet conspiracy theories, is the oil industry consortium with extensive ties to the Saudi government and to the Bush family -- extensive enough that former president George H.W. Bush was a Carlyle employee in September 2001. For two years, this has been the stuff of conspiracist nirvana; enough has been e-mailed regarding Carlyle, Bush, and 9/11 to wash the world's entire supply of hogs.

The missing Saudi connection is only one detail in a far larger story, of intelligence agencies with more information than capacity for processing it or sharing it, a stunning amount of data that at the end of the day still needed to be interpreted by human beings.

Most of the attention on the congressional report has focused on whether the attacks could have been prevented with better procedures and wiser interpretation of intelligence. But the question of sponsorship is enormous -- particularly since so much of the Bush Administration's aggressive "War on Terror" foreign policy has been based on claims, or inferences, of who the dark forces behind 9/11 actually were.

"Neither CIA nor FBI officials were able to address definitively the extent of [foreign] support for the hijackers globally or within the United States," the report notes. Even more remarkably, "Only recently, and in part due to the joint inquiry's focus on this issue, did the FBI and CIA strengthen their efforts to address these issues..."

In other words, we know that a guy named bin Laden has been running a murderous terrorist group called Al-Qaeda. On this basis, the United States first attacked and overthrew the government of Afghanistan -- ostensibly because it had "harbored" bin Laden -- and then attacked and overthrew the government of Iraq, on the basis, apparently, that both Saddam and bin Laden were Muslim.

But where did bin Laden get his money, his resources, his recruits? Since 9/11, the CIA and FBI, not to mention a small army of other agencies, have been working overtime on terror-related issues, with all the money in the world. But according to this last passage, until recently they didn't much care about the issue of foreign sponsorship. We had our bad guys -- the Taliban and Saddam. We didn't need any others.

Or, perhaps, we didn't want them. When it comes to sponsorship, the Al-Qaeda trail is a limited access freeway, and most of its exits are in Saudi Arabia. Bin Laden himself is not only Saudi, but a scion of one of Saudi Arabia's richest and most prominent families, with its wealth endlessly intertwined with that of Saudi Arabia's ruling royal family. The vast majority of the 9/11 hijackers were Saudi. And now, 28 redacted pages of a joint congressional report reportedly implicates Saudi officials in the financing of Al-Qaeda and the 9/11 plot.

This comes in the context of a Saudi government that is every bit as brutally repressive as the Taliban or Saddam, every bit as horrible in its treatment of women as the Taliban ever were. But the Saudis have oil, and for decades Washington has looked the other way when the topic of Saudi Arabia's miserable human rights record has been broached. Not only that, but Washington continues to sell the oil-rich royal family the latest in military weaponry, even though Saudi rhetoric toward Israel remains unremittingly hostile -- normally a disqualifying trait in an American military ally.

Oil speaks volumes. Especially to the Bush family, which is how the Bush connection to the Carlyle Group, and Carlyle's connection to the nepotistic thugs running Saudi Arabia, become relevant. The question is not corruption or conspiracy, but a comfortable relationship among business colleagues willing to overlook differences on other issues -- like brutal repression, or one party putting money into an attack that killed 3,000 people in the heart of the other party's country.

Is Bush protecting his Saudi friends -- or his father's friends? The congressional report does little to disprove this notion, and the White House isn't talking. The Bush Administration is still refusing to divulge how much the President was told before 9/11 about the nature or extent of the threat to U.S. security posed by Al-Qaeda. Conspiracists would love, on entirely circumstantial fare, to turn this into a "the President knew" or even "the President planned" fable. But a far more likely scenario is that information unfavorable to the Saudi government or its business interests (basically, the same people) was dismissed or kept away from the President for the same reason information casting doubt on Iraqi weapons or Al-Qaeda links was filtered out -- because the politicians at the top didn't want to hear it.

If nothing else, the White House's lack of concern over the unseemly appearance of the Bush family connection to Saudi interests is consistent with this president's approach to governing. From the onset, Dubya's rule has been characterized by putting officials in charge of entire industries when they have extensive financial and business ties to that industry. The appearance of corruption -- and subsequent regulatory moves that vastly enrich the industries in question -- seems not to matter.

Now, we have a purported Saudi connection to the 9/11 plot, a White House redacting details of that connection, and the same oil-soaked presidency having business and social connections to the Saudis that go right to the top. At minimum, the thousands that died on 9/11, and the many thousands more that have died since in Afghanistan and Iraq, beg the question: why is George W. Bush handling Saudi Arabia so gently?

Matthew 5:16--So let it begin! Much is being ballyhooed about the Saudis having nuclear weapons or trying to get access. You are exactly correct to be concerned about the Saudi/Iraqi connection. It also explains why there are no WMD left in Iraq...why? because they all had "Made in USA" labels on them. The Saudis have "reclaimed all of their property they have been storing there for about a decade. THey have picked Iraq clean as a whistle and the UN gave them plenty of time to do it! Have the Saudis been transferring nuclear material around the world for years? OF course I have no proof of that but let me tell you of what proof I do have. Bush was an employee of the Carlyle Group but by some estimates the Carlyle Group investment money comes 30% from the Saudi family. Kicking out the bin Laden family and their paltry $6.0M investment was barely pocket change. Some estimate the Saudi investment at $30.0 Billion. That's not the bad news!

The Carlyle Group purchased a company called "Duratek" in January of l995. Duratek, which has since become the leader in cleaning up and disposal of nuclear waste produced by the Federal Govt and the Nuclear Industry. (by the way, GE and Westinghouse built most of the reactors in the US & the world. Now they own the Media, so this is probably why all the following information can NEVER be heard on television or Radio! Screw you letter man! Duratek owns a company called Duratex Federal Services that cleans up decommissioned nuclear plants. They also own Numanco which apparently is a consultant for THree Mile Island nuclear plant. Oh, by the way, do you know who owns Three Mile Island? First Energy, the people that brought you the black out of 2003! Why? or just a small political statement or was there more?

In addition, Duratek owns and/or operates Nuclear-Chem; more Nuclear Waste disposal; it also owns Hittman Transporation (it's a real name). Hittman is the ONLY company in the US licensed to transport nuclear waste throughout the US. Licensed by the DOE; in June of 2001, Duratek and Bechtel got a DOE contract to continue clean up of the very dirty Hanford plant after the Fluor Corp botched the job. Duratek also purchased a subsidiary of Westinghouse called Scientific Ecology Group in April of l997. They operate under SEG Westinghouse. As a result, I am sorry to say that Duratek Federal Services and it's Saudi "owners/investors" have apparently had access to all of our nuclear weapons facilities and nuclear weapons labs since at least l995, about the time the Saudis are alleged to have started their own program of reprocessing low level radio active waste into fissionable material. (That last part is just conjecture) I have NO idea if Saudi agents are actually utilizing their access to divert nuclear material. It doesn't really matter because we've been shipping it to Russia since l995.

Believe it or not THAT'S STILL NOT THE BAD NEWS! There is a Defense Consolidation plant outsid of Maryland where you & I dispose of all our of our outdated WMD! That includes Nuclear, Weapons, Chemical and Biological. There is some indication that the Saudis (er, I really mean, George Bush's daddy's company) have access to and are a federal contrator with access to those materials as well.

Ouch! y ou say! How dare they get access to our old Anthrax, why that's not possible. You would be mistaken old yak breath! THe Saudis, (er, I keep doing that...the Carlyle Group) don't need to pick up our leftovers...they can make new stuff all for themselves or at least they did until October 10, 2001. The company name is PRA International. On the surface it just is the 8th largest medical research clinic on the face of the earth with locations throughout the world. The Saudis' (oh, damn it!) I mean the Carlyle Group bought in l996. PRA holds one very dirty little record in the medical community. IT is one of the world's leading clinical trials on inhalation issues created through biological agents...that means Anthrax. Go to their web site. They actually brag about it! Carlyle Group sold that company on or about October 10, 2001. Just before Anthrax hit! How convenient! Do I believe that ANYONE at Carlyle Group had anything to do with the Anthrax attack, absolutely not. I think they are all fine Americans. I do however believe that it should be illegal for foreign nationals to own/operate/invest in ANY company that gives them access to data or products that would compromise our security. The issue here isn't who works for these companies, the issue is "military-level" espionage of the worst kind. And now we know that the Saudi's have a motive to destroy us all, why do we allow their continued investment? It actually gets worse. One of Carlyle Groups most recent acquistions is APOTHEKA,. The website indicates Apotheka is a Russian Holding Co. implying it is an investment veicle. Go to the website. It is one of the world's largest supplier of Potassium Iodide tablets. (The Saudi's buying up the world supply for themselves. They know what's coming, they're gonna bring it! Can we stop them! Not by voting Republican!!!) There's more and I'm in the mood to spill my guts.

I won't revisit Duratek, there's bigger fish to fry! Let's talk about the Saudi's 2nd favorite investment after nuclear weapons and nuclear waste..the Aviation industry. Funny, when you do on the Carlyle Group website, the don't even mention "aviation" as an investment category. The Carlyle Group own several companies that pretty much build and maintain the Space Shuttle Columbia as well as the major supplier of original and replacement parts for ALL 180 major airlines in the US. If it falls from the sky, couldn't it be sabotage? . DON'T TURN THIS OFF!!! I'm naming names! No WAIT! Before I go to the Columbia let's talk about Sippican Inc. Sippican is the Saudi (damn it, I did it again) the Carlyle Groups investment in anti-ship missile defense systems, anti-submarine warfare training consultants for the US govt. You know, the last thing I'd like to have the Saudi's crawlin all over is our submarine detection systems and how to defeat them! But hey, ex presidents got to make a buck, RIGHT! (ooops, let's see I think Jimmy Carter spends his spare time building houses for people that can't afford them, it's the Republican George Bush's Daddy that's trying to help destroy every living thing on the planet...Sorry! I got democrat and republican mixed up for a second!) Did you ever wonder why Baby George hitailed it to Norad when the planes hit? I think I know! I think he thinks that the Saudi's have the launch codes for our nuclear submarines. BUT THERE"S MUCH MORE!! I'm getting sick of talking about it. Nobody believe me anyway so let me give you a few parting facts you can check out on the net; Carlyle Group owns tow companies, Lear Siegler Services and a company called Piedmont Hawthorne Holdings. Between the two the Saudis, i Mean George Bush's daddy owns dozens of flight schools throughout the US! The Saudis actually OWN the flight schools! Who said the hijackers PAID for flight school? Up until a few weeks ago, the Carlyle Group owned US Investigation Services, one of the largest private govt-contracted investigation firms in the World. Hundreds of employees! I wonder where Bush II got the bad info from? United Defense is a 51% joint partnership with the Saudi Govt. United Defense owns BMD and Vinnell. We trained the Saudi National Guard there until sold to TRW in l998! While we're add it, the Saudis own about 10% of Planet Hollywood! Could Arnold be in the Saudi wallett too!? Only if $20,000,000 is alot of money! The Carlyle Group owns Imagitas.."manages all mandatory government agency communications"! The Saudi's know what your govt is doing before your senator does! That's creepy!

Who made the Foam Insulation that fell off and hit the Shuttle? Did anyone EVER actually talk about that? Did you hear the early reports on the Columbia disaster indicating that they may have made an error or malfunction that screwed up the angle of descent! Do you know hwo makes those orbital engines? I do! Lear Siegler manufactured the Columbia's "orbital maneuvering system/reaction control systems. Lear Siegler in Elyria, Ohio. Lead Siegler in Grand Rapids makes automated circuits. ALL OWNED BY THE FREAKING SAUDIS!!! But that's not all. A company in Downers Grove, Ill called Rexnord Inc. not only the largest producer of state of the art "electrical generating and transmission" equipment for the US electrical market, they are ALSO owned by Daddy Bush and they ALSO make parts for the Shuttle Columbia's Orbital Maneuvering System Engine and Valve Components. EVERYYTHING THESE PEOPLE TOUCH TURNS TO DEATH! BUT THAT"S NOT ALL!

Have you ever wondered why we just don't go search all the Cargo Container's sitting at our ports for nuclear weapons and other stuff? Guess who is the largest owner of Shipping Containers... Carlyle Group, a little company called Horizon Lines, owns 35% of ALL US MARINE CONTAINERS!! Have you ever wondered why we can't get the govt to search small air cargo bpackages? Just ask the Carlyle Group. They own Air Cargo Inc., the nation's largest small package air cargo delivery system. They wholesale the space to other transport vendors. Uninspected Air Cargo? That's not all.. Have you ever wondered what keeps planes from falling from the sky...Yes, men and women to work on commercial planes and the parts to keep them flying. Do you know who claims to be the largest supplier of new and replacement commercial aircraft parts in the world?? You guessed it!The Carlyle Group.. ever heard of a company called Aviall Inc. OOOPS almost forgot Air Cargo Inc is the number One suupplier of Air Cargo for UNITED AIRLINES! There is so much more! Carlyle Group makes the engines for our anti-missile shipps. They own a controlling interest in Morton-Thiokol of space shuttle "O" ring failure fame!! They own internet companies! The own server farms..I mean these people ARE THE ALLIANCE!!! SYDNEY RUN FOR YOUR LIFE! And if you are feeling all safe and snug in your little "e-domain", Carlyle Group owns the "Global Name Registry"! that one hurts. But don't feel bad! Not only do they own the shipping containers and the air cargo but they also own Seabulk Transportation. What does it do? It's a Marine Towing outfit, the 6th largest int he world,..it brings ships into port! OIL CARGO SHIPS, I wonder what else they could be filled with! The Carlyle Group is also the US GOV'T leading supplier of Security Systems, electronic, plastic name badges, low frequency communications; electronic cash management systems; see (BLACKBOARD INC.) They also own a cute little company in Berkeley that allows anyone to automatically cut clothing material to perfectly fit! I wonder if the Saudis are ordering AMERICAN MILITARY UNIFORMS, as we speak!
They have access to planes, they repair planes, they supply all the parts... I think the Columbia was a perfect warning, the Sabotage for all the world to see, and it was exquisitley timed right OVER Bush's texas ranch! It bears repeating. I don't think that ANYONE that is employeed at ANY OF THESE companies had ANYTHING TO DO WITH ANY ACT OF SABOTAGE. But we are idiots if we fail to realize the Saudis stuck us with "students" once before and I promise you there are hundreds of "students" still in this country, and many are having access to our most critical information systems, weapons systems and utilities! GOD HELP US ALL IF I AM RIGHT!

OMEN NEMO!
